To become a Driving Instructor in South Australia might be slightly different from other states. You will need:

  • Police Check & Working with Children Check
  • Completed Certificate IV in Transport Logistics – Road Transport Driving Instruction
  • Pass your MDI’s Road Rules Theory Test
  • Pass the Regulator Assessment

What We Will Cover

You will need to be tested on Manual Transmission for your Regulator Assessment. Before you can perfectly manoeuvre a Manual Gear vehicle, you will not be able to complete your Instructor’s lesson and pass the Regulator Assessment smoothly.

AusDriving Instructor will be able to provide a good coaching & insight about full control of a Manual Transmission vehicle to ensure you can drive a Manual Geared vehicle confidently.

Basic Vehicle Knowledge

Learning include the very basic Simple Vehicle Check & Complete Vehicle Check. Then to vehicle Cabin Drill, warning lights, electronic controls, all switches. Last but not least, vehicle hardware, tools & equipment… where to find it, how to use it & when you need it.

Clutch Usage

There is an extra pedal on the left side >>> “Clutch” pedal <<<. So we provide coaching on when, where, how & why on using the clutch. You will need to be able to control the clutch smoothly and gently. We know some of you might already knew how to drive a Manual transmission vehicle, but… can you drive up to the Regulator’s requirement?

Driving Manouvers

Coaching include Gear changing sequence in approaching intersection / street / traffic lights. Decision point, braking point, clutch down/up on specific driving condition or traffic condition. How, Why, What, When, and Where you have to do this? At the end of every training lesson, we promise you will take some valuable information back home with you.

Certificate IV

Where do you get your Certificate IV for the 1st stage application to become Driving Instructor? What will be the cost? How long does it takes?

Becoming Driving Instructor in South Australia can never be an easy road to take. You must be committed and proper planning it. It is not a cheap course to take, but it is definitely an interesting job if you have passion in it.

MDIs Road Rules Theory Test

You must do well in your Australian Road Rules. You will be the one transferring your knowledge to your students, so 100% understanding of Road Rules is the most important part of your whole journey to become a creditable Driving Instructor. There will be no short-cut on this. Just constantly checking, practicing & continuous learning is the only way to do it.

Regulator Assessment

There will be 3 Components in the Regulator Assessment.

  • Component 1: Drive Assessment (100% compliance to Road Rules & General Drive with all correct sequence >80% to pass)
  • Component 2: Commentary Drive (high level of commenting while driving, include WHAT & WHY & WHEN & IF)
  • Component 3: Training and Delivery of Tasks (competently delivering selected CBT&A Tasks following lesson plan)
